Tribute to Fallen Heroes

As Ehlers Danlos syndromes become more recognized, many of us remember individuals who have passed on either directly from EDS or from the complications that arise from having comorbid conditions. It is important to recognize that EDS can be life-threatening. As a close-knit community, our hearts are broken each and every time a loved one loses this battle. This is why we feel that we must provide support and resources to patients and medical professionals affected by EDS and related conditions. We envision a better Wisconsin where EDS and related conditions are better understood, treated and supported.

Please take some time to notice and honor each of the warriors below. If you know someone affected by EDS who has lost their battle and would like them added to this page, send a photo and obituary to EDSWisconsin@gmail.com.

Please donate in the name of any one of them to help further our mission. Our organization relies on donations from generous supporters like you! All proceeds from this area will go toward providing education to medical professionals in Wisconsin. Your dollars will directly impact individuals in our local community!

Sandra L. McCann nee Newton 10/18/54 – 11/21/04

Sandra is the mother of EDS Wisconsin’s founder Tammy Kosbab. Sandra was the third of eight children. Sandra was a resilient and strong individual. She knew something in her genetics wasn’t right because she experienced many symptoms but was never diagnosed with EDS, mast cell activation disorder, or dysautonomia. Dispite her health struggles, Sandra’s sunny disposition could light up any room. She was a natural leader and others looked to her for guidance. Sandra was married and had three children and seven grandchildren at the time of her death at the young age of 50.
